The first WordPress theme I did when I ported my portfolio to WordPress, I wanted to stay within the boundaries of the “disguise” theme, owing to my website’s name and domain. Masks have always fascinated me, and the fabulous Venetian mask photo by Christa Richert inspired me to do this theme.
Initially I meant to do a blue theme, in cool sedate colors. However, working more on the layout, I slowly came to realize that even though I liked blue, blue wasn’t a color that people identified with me, with my personality. That I wasn’t the type of person who was cool, collected, and sedate, like the blue that I chose.
I started playing with different colors, keeping to a dark tone to convey the richness that the mask photo called for, and finally settled with a warm, earthy reddish brown color, which was closer to my personality. Important design elements of the layout remained, some of them recolored to fit the warmer tones.
