Seasonal Plume (Parchment Brushes)

The last Seasonal Plume layout was more personal than its previous incarnations, but somehow it didn’t feel just right for a writing blog. And for almost a year, I’d been trying to work with parchment-inspired layouts for Seasonal Plume, but nothing seemed to turn out right, until this one. I decided I wanted a cross between a blog, a writing site, and a magazine-/newsletter style, and the latest parchment layout came along.
I incorporated some elements from the first WordPress theme Seasonal Plume used, notably the brush-inspired headers and footers and the AJAX-powered header area. For the header, I kept the content according to what one would normally see at the start of a book: a table of contents, and since the blog was primarily about me/my writing, I included a short blurb about myself.
For a personal touch, I drew the navigation elements and added a signature at the end of the first post in the home page. The most recent posts formed the left-hand column, as well as links to archives and previous posts. The right column contained various odds and ends: about myself, a quote, a review, other posts of mine in other blogs–among others. The footer consisted of a contact form as well as other interested odds and ends: photos, links, and recent things I’ve been doing.
