Seasonal Plume

For the redesign of Seasonal Plume, I wanted something that looked darker but not heavy, and emphasized the content more than the nifty things in the site (like the previous AJAXy effects). The header that I came up with was mostly an experiment with shapes until I arrived with the striped header with the curly, manually-drawn stripes across the bottom right corner, and a flower drawn from semi-colons on the top left. Making this header liquid was a challenge in itself, until I was able to slice up the header and place them one by one using absolute and relative positions.

To further draw the focus to the entries, I gave the blog post dates a grey hue that almost blends in with the grey background. The rest of the colors used in the layout were light and bright to offset the darkness of the background.
